Luckily, most patches are now open and have safety measures in place but booking is essential to make sure you and your little explorers don’t miss out this autumn.

1) Windmill Animal Farm, Ormskirk, Lancashire

From 10th to 31st October

Windmill Animal Farm is ideal for younger children to visit before Halloween. With twenty thousand pumpkins to choose from, your little monsters will surely find the perfect Halloween pumpkin. After picking, explore the Animal farm and have a relaxing family day out.

2) Undley Farm Events, Beck Row, Suffolk 

From 1st October

This fantastic farm offers more than 20 varieties of pumpkins for you and your little ones to pick from. The fleet of wheelbarrows will be waiting for all the little pumpkin pickers to help them transport their pickings. Don’t miss the amazing attractions such as the Maize Maze, straw bale pyramid, donkey rides and pumpkin carving demonstrations.

3) Sopley Farm, Christchurch, Dorset

10am to 5pm seven days a week during October – no need to book

Sopley Farm, beautifully located on the edge of The New Forest, is perfect for a pre-Halloween family day out. Pick as many pumpkins as you like with your little helpers. There are thousands of pumpkins for you to choose from and a fleet of wheelbarrows and sledges will be there to help pickers transport their pumpkins.

4) Piglets Adventure Farm, Towthorpe Grange, York

Every weekend in October and every day from 24th October – 1st November

With over 10,000 to choose from, Piglets Adventure Farm is the perfect place to find your Halloween pumpkin. Every child that visits the farm will return home with a free pumpkin. From tiny squashes to gigantic pumpkins, they’ve got them all at Cholderton Charlies. There is half price entry for anyone who arrives wearing fancy dress. There will be lots of attractions including an interactive spooky quiz, pumpkin carving sessions and a scavenger hunt – have a spooktacular time!

8) National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire

10, 11, 17 – 31 Oct & 1 Nov

Hop aboard the pumpkin wagon tractor at National Forest Adventure Farm and pick up a free pumpkin for your children. After finding the perfect pumpkin you can transform it into a Jack O’Lantern with one of their pumpkin carving kits.

9) Strawberry Fields, Lifton, Devon

19th – 27th October
