Muddy Puddles AW18 collection is a celebration of all things British. We love the British weather, the British countryside and most of all the British spirit for getting out and getting on whatever the weather.

The ‘A Bigger Picture’ collection created by David Hockney where he observed and depicted North East Yorkshire through the seasons aligns perfectly with all the elements we want to express in our outerwear.

We felt so inspired by the Hockney colour palette which is so vivid and engaging. We have drawn on the deep reds, baltic blues and sunshine yellow that bring his images to life. He has an incredible way of turning the delicate details of nature in to bold, graphic shapes which translate so well in to prints. Look out for the pattern of the birch tree repeating through our scampsuit and ski jacket and the new log print Blizzard jacket taken from the felled log piles in Hockney’s pictures.

Alongside the colours and prints drawn from Hockney are the Muddy Puddles signature styles. Threaded through the collection are a series of weather prints. The graphic cloud on our contrast colour base layers which can double up as super cosy pyjamas and the super raindrop in our puddlestomper wellies and scampsuits. These sit along aside classic navy and red explorer parka and puddleflex jackets.

At Muddy Puddles we care deeply about the quality and design of every item we create. We are committed to thoughtful child led design. Every outer fabric we choose is made to protect against the elements and tested to the hilt against heavy rain and snow. Then every lining and inner fabric is always soft and non-itchy so children are delighted to put it on. We combine these essentials with thumb hole loops that children love and keep out the wind, secure yank proof zips to withstand lots of wear and tear, hoods that always stay up and an infinite number of other details depending on the item. We are lucky enough to have lots of muddy children in our team who can put all our products to the test and let us know how we can do a better job.

We are delighted with some of the improvements we have made to the collection this winter. Our EcoSplash has become more snuggly with the extra cosy Sherpa lined hoody. Our Scampsuits are even more suitable for skiing with the ankle cuff for ski boots and extra warm lining. Our new Explorer Parka is the ideal school jacket in stylish navy or red and made to withstand the coldest days in winter. Our offer for Forest School has come on in leaps and bounds with our new Super Rain Set, our Puddleflex All in One now up to 6 years and a lovely new Puddleflex Bib and Brace in yellow.

All of this is done in the context of wanting to build a sustainable brand that treads lightly on the earth it is a part of. We do this through the recycled fabrics in our EcoSplash collection and also in our commitment to quality. In every Muddy Puddles product you buy we put the message ‘made to pass on to someone smaller than you’ and we really mean it. We offer a one year quality guaranty on everything we make and delight in receiving photos from customers of the 3rd, 4th or sometimes even 8th child wearing a Muddy Puddles item.
