With the heatwave currently sweeping the UK, we thought it would be a good idea to share our top 5 family-friendly UK beaches to visit during the summer holidays.
We’re sure you all have thought about escaping the city and heading over to the beach in the last few weeks – sun, sand, blue sky and refreshing sea water – this has got us dreaming!
Read on to know more about our favourite sandy destinations in the UK, pack a bucket and spade and spend an unforgettable family weekend enjoying the sound of waves!
Looking for the perfect family gateway? Head to Devon and enjoy a sunny day on one of the loveliest beaches in the UK. Blackpool Sands is a family-friendly, safe beach with exceptionally clean water. Your little ones will have lots of space to run free and build sand castles (there are large sandpits available for the brave sand-castle makers to enjoy). You can also try family kayaking or paddle boards and spend a wonderful and active day outdoors. There’s also a café, a shop and the beautiful Blackpool Gardens just behind the beach.
West Wittering beach is a lovely sandy beach, perfect for a relaxing family day out, surrounded by wildlife and different plant species. There are lifeguards on site, so you and your gang will be in safe hands all day long. Don’t worry if you forget your bucket and spade – you can buy all the summer essentials in the beach shop. There’s also a beach café if you get hungry or need a little pick-me-up snack in the middle of the day with your gang.
This lovely sandy beach is in our opinion one of the nicest on the South Coast. With lots of fine, gold sand around, it calls for sand castles and sand pies! All the facilities you may need (showers, changing rooms, toilets) are close to the beach. There’s also a play area for children, a barbecue area, a café and even crazy golf courses to make your family day out even more exciting!
Bournemouth Beach is an award-winning beach with one of the warmest sea temperatures in the UK – good news for the young splashers! Good to know: the LV=Kidzone child safety scheme is run every year between July and August when free coloured wristbands are handed out to the children to make sure the missing explorers are reunited with their families as quickly as possible. There are lots of family attractions on the Bournemouth Pier – don’t miss a visit to the Family Entertainment Centre.
This quiet, clean, sandy beach is perfect for a family beach trip with your little ones. Remember to have a ride on the Beach Train or a donkey ride – we’re sure your children will love it! It’s also a paradise for the shell collectors. There are lots of places to eat or have a cuppa or an ice cream around, too.
