5 brilliant things to do outside on Mother’s DayMarch 8, 2018 • Get Outdoors
Mother’s Day is only a few days away! We believe every Mum deserves to be treated on this special day.
Enjoy your breakfast in bed, fresh flowers and hand-crafted presents and make sure you leave your chores for another day! Once you’ve enjoyed the treats and presents, Mother’s Day is also a great opportunity to spend the day outdoors together with the whole family. Read on for our 5 muddy ideas to spend Mother’s Day outdoors with your children!
- A walk in nature
A simple walk might not sound like an exciting idea for Mother’s Day, but it depends where you decide to go! If you live in the countryside and are surrounded by lovely views, you’re lucky! A walk in the woods or in the fields with your little ones is a great way to start the day. If you live in the city, go to the nearest park or look for the hidden gems in your area. A beautiful square or a roof garden might turn out to be only a few steps away from your home. The idea, as always, is to encourage your children to leap outdoors.
- Have lunch outside
Look out for a lovely picnic spot in your area and prepare a Mother’s Day lunch to enjoy outside with your children. If it rains, you can still go ahead with what you’ve planned. As long as you’re all dressed warm in toasty waterproofs you can enjoy an outdoor meal whatever the weather (as you know, at Muddy Puddles we believe there is no such thing as bad weather but you might need a pair of wellies and a waterproof jacket). If your little adventurers are old enough, let them prepare a simple Mother’s Day treat.
- Flowers, flowers and more flowers!
If you love blooming flowers, a spring garden is a must-see. There are so many of them across the country! Nothing is more relaxing than being surrounded by lovely, colourful plants. If you live in London, you can also visit Kew Gardens and enjoy beautiful plants and attractions for the whole family. Let your children explore nature, they will be thrilled.
- Beach time!
If you live at the seaside, pack some sandwiches and head to the nearest beach (don’t forget about a windproof jacket for your children, just in case). Build sand castles, go for a walk along the shore, make sand angels, organise a treasure hunt or let your little ones surprise you with a fun Mother’s Day activity! - Family trip
A day trip with your family is also a brilliant idea. Find a place where you and your little explorers can play outdoors and have fun outside. Visit a castle, a museum or a historic monument of your choice or go for a more “adventurous” trip. Trekking, cycling or zip lining are a great alternative for the little adventure seekers.
There are so many fantastic ways of spending Mother’s Day outdoors. We hope you’ll find these ideas useful to make your special day a relaxed and happy day! What have you got planned? P.S. Don’t worry about getting all muddy – the best memories are made through fun (and messy!) activities together (plus, our waterproofs are all machine-washable, so it’s never been easier to get them ready for your next adventure!)
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Mums! Hope you all have a wonderful day <3
