10 Best Pick Your Own Farms to Visit This Summer


Summer is the perfect time to pick your own fruit. What better than a trip to the nearest pick-your-own farm with your family?

We have rounded up our 10 favourite pick-your-own farms in the UK where you and your little explorers can pick your own fresh and healthy fruit this summer. 🍓🍒🍏🍐 Please check individual sites as most places require booking in advance.

1) Strawberry Fields, Lifton, Devon

Visit Strawberry Fields in Devon for the ultimate summer activity to pick your own strawberries and keep an eye out for the scarecrows on the way. Plus this summer there’s a 5 acre maize maze opening for the whole family to explore (or maybe get lost!) Tickets need to be booked in advance.

2) Craigies Farm, West Craigie Farm, South Queensferry, Edinburgh

Founded in 1966, this is the perfect place to enjoy a family day out picking your own fruit and there’s plenty to keep little adventurers occupied. There’s a useful report to show what is available to pick now and what will be available later in the year. As well as picking your own fruit and veg, there’s the chance to meet and feed the animals at Little Farmers as well as a fun indoor and outdoor play area for children to explore. Tickets need to be booked for pick your own and Little Farmers.

3) Medley Manor Farm, Oxfordshire

There’s a range of pick your own and ready picked produce to choose from at Medley Manor Farm, including strawberries, raspberries, broad beans and more. There’s an onsite café open at the weekends which uses farm produce and there’s plenty of walks nearby to complete your family day out.

4) Hill Farm, Chesterton, Peterborough

Choose from a selection of fruits over the summer such as strawberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants and raspberries at Hill Farm. There’s also a picnic area to enjoy your lunch (or better, the fruits you have picked!) as well as a farm shop and playground for little adventurers to play in. Booking is essential for weekends.

5) Parkside Farm, Enfield, Middlesex

Named ‘Pick Your Own of the Year’ in 2019, Parkside Farm has a huge range of fruit and vegetables on offer to pick – current produce includes strawberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, french beans and beetroot. Once you’re done picking, why not grab an ice cream at the well stocked farm shop. Pick your own is by advanced booking only.

6) Garsons Farm, Esher, Surrey

Take your pick from strawberries, gooseberries, carrots, broccoli and more on offer at Garsons Farm. There is an award-winning garden centre and farm shop on site as well as a restaurant. A pick your own farm pass is required to enter the farm and must be booked in advance of visiting.

7) Crockford Bridge Farm, Addlestone, Surrey

Nestled on the Surrey Green Belt, a visit to Crockford Bridge Farm is the perfect excuse to enjoy a lovely family day out in the countryside, while hand picking your own produce. Current crops include strawberries, beetroot and carrots with plenty more to come. There’s even an ice cream parlour on site (stocking 24 different flavours of ice cream and sorbet to keep the whole family happy).

8) Brocksbushes Farm, Corbridge, Northumberland

Visit Brocksbushes Farm in Northumberland for a wide array of fruit and vegetables available to take home. After all that fruit picking, there’s plenty of gorgeous walks around the local countryside or enjoy a number of tasty treats in the tea room at the farm.

9) Clive’s Fruit Farm, Upton Upon Severn, Worcestershire

Visit Clive’s Fruit Farm with the family this summer to pick your own strawberries, cherries and raspberries. Afterwards there’s a café, farm shop and even a children’s playground to enjoy. They also grow plums, apples and pears which are available to pick later in the summer.

10) Bury Lane Farm, Royston, Hertfordshire

Make a day of it and head to Bury Lane Farm to pick your own yummy strawberries. All the strawberries are on raised table tops and are within easy reach of the car park – perfect for little legs! All the punnets are made from recycled materials or even better, bring your own containers. Once you’ve filled your punnets, there’s a farm shop and café where you can stock up on delicious local produce.
