10 Best Family-Friendly Festivals (2021)


We have taken the hard work of trudging through the many festivals hoping to go ahead this year and have whittled them down into a main line up for you!

Here are our 8 favourite family-friendly festivals to go to with your children this year. All information and prices correct at the time of writing but please remember to check individual websites for further updates in case of changes.

1) Camp Bestival, 29th July – 1 August, Lulworth Castle, Dorset

Hailed as the family-friendly festival of choice by families all across the UK, Camp Bestival prides itself on ensuring that it’s equally geared towards and suited for both parents and children. A recent winner of the Best Family Festival at the UK Festival Awards, there is plenty to keep the family entertained. Activities range from wild workshops at the Dingly Dell, kids discos in the Bollywood tent, a soft play tent to wild tree climbing and zip wires.

2) Latitude Festival, 22nd – 25th July, Henham Park, Suffolk 

Latitude is among the biggest of the family-friendly festivals with a huge array of activities available for children and parents alike. When purchasing a family weekend ticket you will automatically be placed in the Family Campsite which is just a stones throw from the Enchanted Garden area which features a busy programme of activities for the family.

As well as a stellar line-up of acts including Bastille, First Aid Kit and Snow Patrol, the musical acts alone are enough to draw any music lover to the wonderful lakeside location. To add to the acts there is a huge focus on the arts with a packed theatre schedule ranging from comedy and theatre performed on hidden woodland stages, to as many gourmet food stalls as one can imagine.

3) Beautiful Days, 20th – 22nd August, Escot Park, Devon

Describing itself as a family festival, Beautiful Days in Devon is a charming little festival that aims to have a family and community atmosphere. On top of music, there are plenty of activities, hands-on workshops and entertainment all weekend long for children of all ages to enjoy. Ranging from crafts, theatre, dressing-up, circus, rides, story-telling, music and craft workshops, comedy and face painting, the list goes on and on!

4) Just So Festival, 20th – 22nd August, Rode Hall, Cheshire

Only one word can describe this festival –  fun! The eccentric, family friendly, majestic, mad, interactive, wonderful world of Just So Festival is enough to catch any punter’s attention. An ‘imaginative outdoor family adventure like no other’ is how they describe it, set within the beautiful Rode Hall location. With a spellbinding line up of circus shows and workshops, theatre performances and classes, huge puppets and decorations adorning the land, this festival is what dreams are made of.

5) Standon Calling, 22nd – 25th July, Hertfordshire

You can expect lots of fun, family-friendly activities at Standon Calling. From circus tricks and theatre shows to fire camp storytelling, your children will be entertained and taken care of. There’s even a swimming pool so don’t forget swim gear for the family! Camping in the dedicated family camping field is ideal for those who need an earlier bedtime and should you need it, there’s a babysitting service available.

6) The Big Feastival, 27th – 29th August, Alex James’ Farm, The Cotswolds

The Big Feastival is perfect for families, bringing together music and an array of Michelin star chefs live on stage. There’s plenty of wild workshops, theatre shows, a vintage funfair and the chance to meet some furry and feathered friends at Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park. There’s also a quieter family zone for those in need of a nap or to rest those little legs.

7) Doune The Rabbit Hole, 12th – 15th August, Cardross Estate, Scotland

Doune the Rabbit Hole is an intimate and family friendly independent music & arts festival. There’s a brilliant family area perfect for free play, yummy food and lots of workshops such as kite making. Plus, there will be yoga classes for children, live music and much more – no time to get bored!

8) Timber, 2th – 4th July, Feanedock, The National Forest, Midlands

Timber is the perfect festival for nature lovers. Gather with artists and musicians to re-think your and your family’s relationship with nature. Take part in the National School of Forestry’s workshops, join in with the forest school activities or try your hand at laughter yoga.
