Prince William Praises Outdoor Activities

Prince William Praises Outdoor Activities

Everybody knows playing outside is (and should be) an important part of children’s lives.

At Muddy Puddles, we cannot emphasize enough how beneficial and fun outdoor activities are for your child and for the whole family. Luckily, we are not alone. Prince William himself seems to agree with us!

During his recent visit to Sweden, Prince William praised the country’s approach to raising outdoor kids and encouraging them to get as much fresh air as possible. According to the Washington Times, William said that “one lesson that we will take home with us, is that children are actively encouraged to spend time outdoors, whatever the weather.” On top of that, Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, make sure their children don’t play with gadgets such as iPad and spend more time outside instead – they have a strict “no iPad policy” for George and Charlotte.

Find out why outdoor activities are essential for your children whatever the weather (little royals already know it!)

  1. It’s good for their health
Playing outside and physical activity is simply healthy and necessary for your children’s well-being. It also lowers the risk of obesity and other lifestyle diseases in the future and boosts child’s immune system and brain development. Running around and enjoying fresh air whatever the weather is way healthier than taking vitamin supplements!
  1. It’s important for their social development
By playing with other kids, your child will learn social skills essential for communication with others. It will help them understand the importance of team work, body language and gestures. It’s also a great way to make new friends!
  1. It boosts their self-confidence
Nothing makes children more proud and self-assured than overcoming a challenge and achieving the impossible! Children doing regular physically activity are generally more self-confident, have better school results and are more successful in the future than those who spend most of their time indoors.
  1. They learn new skills
Outdoor activities stimulate children’s imagination and require them to find new ways of dealing with things. They help them to learn a lot about themselves and the world and make them more independent (check out our post on the benefits of outdoor learning to find out more).
  1. It keeps them away from gadgets
We know that preventing technology addiction and limiting your child’s screen time is not easy but it’s not impossible. Come up with fun outdoor activities ideas and we assure you – your kids will forget about iPads and smartphones! !
  1. It’s fun!
Playing outside is simply the best way to spend free time. It allows your kids to…behave like kids! They will run around, jump, scream and get all messy at the end of the day. Let them explore the world and be wild, they will be grateful.
